DOG WALKING
MEDITATIONS

A guided audio collection for the human end of the leash.

This collection wasn't created for dogs. It was created for the person on the other end of the leash.

But the walk has always been about far more than exercise.

The walk is a bridge.

A relationship builder. A conversation. An opportunity to practice awareness, communication, trust, leadership, presence, and connection in motion. It is one of the places where the relationship between a dog and a human becomes remarkably visible.

In fact, I can learn an extraordinary amount about a dog, a person, and the relationship they share simply by watching them walk together. How they communicate. How they respond to one another. Where tension lives. Who is paying attention to whom. What happens when something unexpected enters the environment. Whether there is trust, clarity, conflict, dependence, disconnection, cooperation, or confusion. The walk often tells me quite a bit about what life looks like behind closed doors.

It is far more revealing than most people realize.

And that is part of why I chose the walk for this collection.

Because for a lot of people, the walk is anything but peaceful.

It can be filled with tension, anticipation, frustration, anxiety, hypervigilance, embarrassment, or simply the expectation that something is about to go wrong. We brace. We scan. We tighten the leash. We hold our breath. We anticipate the reaction before it happens. And without realizing it, we carry all of that down the leash with us.

Our dogs are paying attention

They are watching our body language. Feeling changes in tension and movement. Noticing where our attention goes, how we respond to the environment, and what happens inside us when another dog, person, bicycle, sound, or unexpected situation appears.

How we feel affects how we move through the world with them. How we respond influences how they respond. When we become tense, uncertain, reactive, distracted, or afraid, that changes the information available to the dog beside us.

Working on the walk means working on the person holding the leash.

That's where these meditations come in.

They help bring us out of the what ifs and back into what is actually happening now. They help us breathe, reset, realign, and become more congruent—so what we're thinking, feeling, communicating, and asking of our dogs aren't all telling different stories.

And when we change the way we show up, the experience on the other end of the leash can begin to change, too.

Not because we're pretending everything is fine. Not because being calm magically “fixes” a dog. But because we're becoming more present, more intentional, more aware, and better able to provide clear information and respond to the dog and the environment in front of us.

The work begins with us.

We walk our dogs again and again, day after day. Rather than treating that time as simply a means of physically exercising them—or something to hurry through before getting back to the rest of our lives—we can use it as an opportunity to practice something different together.

The tracks move through presence and visualization, confidence, fear and anxiety, getting out of a funk, reconnecting to personal power, joy, trauma, grief, love, and affirmation. Not as a curriculum to complete — as different doors, depending on the day.

The larger idea runs through all of this work: what we're carrying internally matters. Our patterns, thoughts, emotional states, habits, energy, responses, and relationships don't exist in isolation, and the walk is one place we can quietly tend to them.

You can listen to one track on a walk, or return to the same one for a season. There's nothing to get right. Just the walk, the dog beside you, and a little space to come back to yourself.

How to Use This Collection

This isn’t a course to work through in order. Choose the track that meets you where you are that day — a walk that needs grounding, a morning that needs a lift, a loop you take when something is heavy. Return to the same tracks as often as they’re useful. The collection is built to be lived with over time, not finished.

These were made for the “non-meditators,” too. You don’t have to sit still, clear your mind, or hold a lotus position — the walk gives you movement, rhythm, and the dog beside you while you’re guided through it.

This gave purpose, focus, and most importantly, will help us to provide solid and calm leadership to our dogs. It really did put us in a calm and positive mental state. What a novel idea!
