BEHAVIORAL CONSULTANCY

Before we decide what to do, we need to understand what's happening.

When behavior becomes difficult, disruptive, confusing, or concerning, the natural response is to look for a way to stop it.

I begin somewhere else.

Not simply with the behavior being displayed, but with the larger picture surrounding it—the individual dog, the human(s) in the home, the environment, history, patterns, needs, and the varying circumstances that may be contributing to what we see.

This isn't about fixing a behavior.

Behavior rarely exists in isolation. And addressing what we see without understanding what is driving it can mean treating the expression while missing the reason it exists.

My role is to help you make sense of the larger picture—to identify what the behavior may be communicating, where things may have gotten off track, and what needs to change on both ends of the leash. Because when we understand what behavior is asking for—and make the appropriate adjustments in response—we don’t just manage what we’re seeing. We create the conditions for meaningful, lasting change.

You may be here because...

Your dog has changed.

Something has begun escalating.

You're seeing behavior you don't understand.

You've already tried training, but something still isn't adding up.

You're preparing for or navigating a significant transition.

Or you simply have the sense that there is more going on than the behavior itself.

UNDERSTANDING IS WHERE WE BEGIN.

01LOOK

We look beyond the presenting behavior and gather the larger picture.

02UNDERSTAND

We begin connecting what you’re seeing with what may be contributing to it.

03APPLY

We translate what we’ve learned into practical changes—adjusting patterns, communication, environment, expectations, structure, or relationship dynamics based on what the individual dog is telling us.

04CHANGE

As the conditions and variables influencing the behavior change, the behavior changes along with them. This isn’t about temporary suppression, masking, numbing, or management. It’s meaningful change that can actually hold.

Understanding gives us the information.

What we do with that information creates the change.

How we can begin.

There are a few ways to work together, depending on what you’re looking to understand and the level of support that feels right for you.
